We have all heard it before, people in the forums or a Facebook group constantly asking about what is the biggest tire I can fit on a stock vehicle. Maybe you are skipping that step and going straight to that bigger size tire. Or it is just time to upgrade from the last one to the bigger one. An easy and common modification is to do a body mount chop. This also is known as a cab mount chop, and abbreviated as BMC, or CMC. It simply adds a little more clearance to be able to accommodate that larger tire so it doesn’t rub.
Aired Down Overland recently install our Southern Style Offroad Toyota 4Runner Body Mount Chop on their 5th Gen 4Runner. They made an informative install video by showing the step-by-step process for the body mount chop. This link will take you over to their install video on their YouTube channel.
Who is Aired Down Overland? This is their about section for their channel.
“This channel is focused on the build-out and adventures of “Bushwacker”, a 2021 Toyota 4Runner TRD Off-Road. This vehicle was purchased new with the intention of creating a very capable overlanding rig. Months of planning went into the selection and purchasing the various components that will go into this build; at present, I have everything needed to complete the full build-out.”
